PA FutureConnect is a program designed to provide ebusinesses, IT companies, and other organizations with IT needs, the opportunity to tap into Pennsylvania’s undergraduate student population to find skilled, subsidized, part-time employees. At its core, the program serves as a clearinghouse for matching companies with students in higher education in the field of information science and technology. To become eligible to participate, qualified students must first complete professional skills training provided through the program. Through this program eligible companies may leverage subsidized, wage-payroll students to work on IT projects during fall and spring semesters for ten to fifteen hours a week, and perhaps identify potential summer interns and new hires. This program is co-sponsored by Penn State University’s School of Information Sciences and Technology, Harrisburg Area Community College, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, and Team PA Foundation’s “Stay and Invent the Future”.
Company applications are now being accepted for the PA FutureConnect program (go to Company Application Form). Student applications will be accepted again in Fall, 2003. If you are looking for additional information about PA FutureConnect, feel free to contact us at futureconnect@ist.psu.edu .
